A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline
by Dean Regan

Calendar:  June 3 - 27

"A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline" is a tribute to the musical performer and country legend Patsy Cline. The show has been produced in theaters across the US and Canada. The appeal and popularity of Patsy has meant that this show has entertained audiences throughout the nation. Patsy Cline was born as Virginia Patterson Hensley on 8th September, 1932, in Winchester, Virginia. Her mother was Hilda Hensley and her father was Samuel Lawrence Hensley.

Patsy Cline was everything that you could expect from a legend. Her ability to produce one hit song after another. Her sound and music has been heard over generations and her spirit and appeal are as alive today as they when she was riding the waved of success and fame. Her voice was so mesmerizing and rich that it pierces the listener's soul. Such was the power and charisma of Patsy Cline. In this musical tribute, you can hear her biggest hits including "Crazy," "Sweet Dreams," "Walkin' After Midnight," and "A Closer Walk With Thee."

Nunsensations!
by Dan Goggin

Reservation Line:   218.732.0099

Calendar: July 8 - August 1

The Nunsense Vegas Revue takes the sisters on a brand new adventure. When a parishioner volunteers to donate $10,000 to the sisters' school if they will perform in a club in Las Vegas, Mother Superior is hesistant to accept. However, after being convinced by the other sisters that "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" Reverend Mother agrees. What follows is the most feather-filled, sequin-studded, fan dancing Nunsense show ever! Performing in "The Pump Room" at the Mystique Motor Lodge, the sisters experience "show-biz" like never before. You'll meet Sin-City Sue, find out who's Black and White with Her Money on Red, and try to win a new car with the "Holy Rollers Giant Slot Machine." Taking a line from another show, a critic pointed out, "It's a whole lot funny and a little bit naughty, but there ain't nothin' dirty goin' on!"

Dearly Departed
by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones

Reservation Line:   218.732.0099

Calendar: August 5 - 29

The beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the Deep South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Not since "Steel Magnolias" has a more colorful and dysfunctional group of Southern eccentrics gathered below the Mason-Dixon line. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpin's other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion. Between feuds, money problems and Macaroni & Ham Loaf Surprise, they learn that coping with life's losses can turn out to be drop-dead funny.

"Dearly Departed" contains a minimum of mature language and situations and is not recommended for children under the age of twelve.

Food Drive

In September, Long Lake Theater hosts its second annual food drive for the Hubbard County Food Shelf. Performers of all sorts – writers, musicians, actors and comedians – are encouraged to sign up for the open mic performances each Saturday evening and join this artistic effort to feed hungry Minnesotans. Admission to the food drive performance is a cash donation or non-perishable food item to the Hubbard County Food Shelf.
10-Minute Play Festival

In conjunction with the food drive, Long Lake Theater is organizing a 10-Minute Play Festival. Local playwrights, actors and directors – both novice and professional – are urged to submit proposals for this first annual event. This is a great opportunity for local performers to stage their own show, using either an original script or published play. Call the theater for details.
